Importing your sales history
“Unmanaged data” is our term for anything that isn’t flowing in through the eBay API — historical sales older than 90 days, off-eBay sales, unlisted inventory, items consigned through another channel. The goal: your books should match your business, not just the slice of it one API can see.
When to use CSV import
- You’ve been reselling for more than 90 days and want accurate historical P&L
- You sell on Mercari, Poshmark, Depop, or other platforms
- You’re migrating from a spreadsheet or another reseller tracker
- You have a death pile of unlisted inventory to bring in
Getting the template
Go to Settings → Import → Download CSV template. The template has columns for title, SKU, purchase date and price, source location, sale date and price, channel, fees, shipping, and notes. Only title is required — fill in as much as you have. Items without cost basis get flagged in reconciliation reports.
Importing from eBay (historical backfill)
- In your eBay account, go to My eBay → Selling → Sold and export your sales history. eBay exports go back further than the API allows.
- Download the CSV from eBay.
- In ResaleTruth, go to Settings → Import → Map columns and match eBay’s column names to ours.
- Preview the import — you’ll see how many items, any rows with issues, and a count of items that would duplicate existing synced data.
- Confirm. Each row becomes an item in ResaleTruth.
Importing from another tool or spreadsheet
The same flow applies. Export from your existing tool, download our template to understand what columns we expect, and map your columns at import time. You can leave unknown columns blank and fill them in later.
What happens to imported items
- They count toward your store size.
- They flow into profit, P&L, and Schedule C reports the same as API-synced data.
- They’re flagged with a “CSV import” source indicator so you always know where data came from.
- You can bulk-edit, re-tag, or delete them at any time.
- Re-importing won’t update existing rows — we don’t overwrite on import. Avoid duplicates by checking the preview screen before confirming.
Example
You’ve been flipping for two years and connect ResaleTruth today. Your dashboard shows the last 90 days of eBay sales automatically. To see the full two-year picture: export your eBay sold history, run the CSV import once, and from that point on the API handles everything new. Your annual reports — ROI, sell-through, Schedule C — reflect the full history, not just the window the API can see.
