we were tired of guessing.
ResaleTruth started as a spreadsheet. Then a more complicated spreadsheet. Then a spreadsheet with macros that broke every time eBay changed their fee structure. Then — finally — a product.
The problem we kept running into
Every reseller we talked to had the same experience. They'd look at their eBay seller dashboard, see a gross sales number that felt decent, and have no real idea whether they were making money. The math you'd need to do — subtract cost of goods, subtract every eBay fee, subtract shipping, subtract materials, subtract the time you spent cleaning and listing and packing — was too annoying to do per-item, so most resellers didn't do it. They went on feel.
"I think I'm making money. I hope I'm making money."
That's not a business. That's an expensive hobby with extra steps.
What we tried first
There are other tools in this space. We tried them. They're useful for parts of the problem. But none of them answered the core question with the specificity it deserved: per item, after every cost, what did I actually make?
Most tools show gross minus fees and call it profit. That number ignores what you paid for the item, what you spent on materials, and — critically — your time. If you're making $4 an hour net after labor, you deserve to know that before your next sourcing run, not after you've been doing it for a year.
Why we named it ResaleTruth
Because the honest number matters. Even when it's uncomfortable.
We deliberately named this thing "Truth" because that's the commitment. We don't smooth the numbers to make you feel better about a category that's not working. We don't hide the labor cost because it might upset you. We show you what you actually made, and we let you decide what to do with it.
For a lot of resellers, the first week with ResaleTruth is humbling. Items they thought were profitable turn out to be break-even or worse. Items they ignored turn out to be their best performers. That's the point. You can't optimize what you can't see.
How we build
We're based in Tampa, Florida. We're a small team. We don't have VC money pushing us to grow faster than the product is ready for. We ship when things are right, not when the sprint ends.
We're resellers. We use this tool. When we find something that doesn't work right, it bothers us personally — and we fix it. The feedback loop is short by design.

Where we're going
Right now, ResaleTruth is built around eBay. That's where the bulk of reseller volume is, and that's where the official API integration gives us the cleanest data. We're adding other platforms — Mercari, Poshmark, Depop, Whatnot — as we build the integrations properly. "Properly" means the data is accurate, not that it's fast.
The longer-term vision is a complete financial OS for resellers: real books, real taxes, real decisions. Not a dashboard that shows you numbers. A tool that answers questions.
Meet Truthy.
Every ResaleTruth account has a mascot: Truthy. A receipt with opinions. Truthy does not tolerate estimated costs, vague labor hours, or the phrase "I think I made money on that." When your books are clean, Truthy is happy. When they're not, Truthy lets you know. It's a small thing. But resellers tell us it's the part they didn't know they needed.
