The Basics
What is ResaleTruth?
ResaleTruth is a profit-truth tracker for eBay resellers. It connects to your eBay account and tracks every dollar in and out — purchase price, materials, labor, fees, shipping — and shows you your real net profit per item, per month, per season.
Not the number eBay shows you. The real one.
Is this for me if I only sell on eBay?
Yes — eBay-first is intentional. We built deep, reliable eBay sync before anything else because that's where most resellers do most of their volume. If you also sell on Mercari, Poshmark, Depop, or anywhere else, those can be tracked via manual entry or CSV import right now. More native integrations are coming based on user demand.
Do I need to be a full-time reseller?
No. ResaleTruth works for weekend flippers, part-time operators, and serious full-time resellers alike. If you flip things for money and want to know your real profit — not a guess, not a vibe — this is for you.
How is this different from a spreadsheet?
A spreadsheet doesn't pull your eBay fees automatically. It doesn't allocate lot costs, track labor by the minute, or generate a Schedule C export. It also doesn't tell you when a formula is broken or when you forgot to enter something.
ResaleTruth is structured cost tracking with eBay sync and accountant-grade exports — built so you can stop maintaining a spreadsheet and start running your business.
How is this different from other reseller tools?
Most reseller tools track your eBay sales and stop there. We track your profit — which means cost basis, materials, labor at your hourly rate, packaging, lot allocation, and consignment payouts. On top of that: deeper analytics, accountant-grade books, Schedule C export, and a gamification layer that makes the daily routine stick. Other tools show you what sold. We show you what you actually made.
eBay & Your Account
Is my eBay account safe to connect?
Yes. We use eBay's official OAuth API with read-only access. We cannot list, relist, cancel orders, send messages, or touch your account in any way. We only read your sales, fees, and shipping data. You can revoke access at any time from your eBay account settings — no need to contact us.
How far back does it pull my eBay history?
When you first connect, we automatically backfill up to 90 days of eBay order history. For anything older, you can import a CSV from eBay's seller hub and we'll ingest it. Your historical data becomes part of your profit dashboard immediately.
What eBay data do you pull?
Orders and sale prices, eBay final value fees, shipping label costs, promoted listing fees, payment processing fees, and payment status. We do not pull buyer personal information — only transaction data.
What if my eBay token expires?
We silently auto-refresh your token in the background. If refresh fails for any reason, you'll see a banner in your dashboard with a one-click reconnect. No data is lost — we just stop pulling new data until you reconnect.
Can I connect multiple eBay accounts?
Trial: 1 eBay account. ResaleTruth $19/mo plan: up to 3 eBay accounts. Enterprise: unlimited. All accounts show up in a unified dashboard — their sales, fees, and profit tracked separately and together.
Costs & Accuracy
What is "true cost per item"?
Purchase price + packing materials + labor (your hourly rate × minutes on that item) + eBay fees + shipping cost — all stacked into one number. That is your true cost. Gross sale price minus that is your real profit.
Most resellers only track what they paid for an item. True cost includes everything that goes into getting it sold.
How do I track labor?
Set your hourly rate in settings. Then either log minutes per item manually, or apply a category profile (e.g., "clothing = 12 min average"). ResaleTruth allocates labor cost automatically. You can override per item at any time.
What if I buy a lot of items for one price?
Use the lot feature. Enter the total lot price and the items in the lot, then allocate cost by estimated resale value, by weight, or split equally. Each item carries its fair share of the lot cost into its profit calculation.
Do you track non-eBay sales?
Yes — manual entry for individual items and CSV import for bulk. We accept exports from Mercari, Poshmark, Depop, and any standard sales CSV format. All non-eBay items flow into the same profit dashboard alongside your eBay data.
How accurate is the profit number?
eBay fees are exact — pulled directly from the API. Your profit number is as accurate as what you put in. If you don't log your packing materials, we can't count them. Garbage in, garbage out.
We make it fast to log everything so accuracy is easy — not a chore.
Pricing & Founder Credit
What's the Founder Credit?
The first 50 paying customers get 70% off their first year — $9/mo effective instead of $19/mo. That's $108 vs $228 in year one. The credit is stamped on your account automatically when you subscribe. No coupon code, no support ticket, no application.
How do I know if I'm in the first 50?
The counter on the waitlist page and pricing page updates in real time via our API. When you join the waitlist you see the current count. Spots are assigned in the order people become paying customers at launch — not waitlist order alone. Get on the list early.
Is the $19/mo price locked in?
Yes. Every existing customer is grandfathered at their signup price — forever. Founder Credit customers pay $9/mo for 12 months, then $19/mo for life. We may raise prices for new customers as the product matures, but we will never raise prices on an active subscription. That's a hard commitment.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel before your next billing date and you owe nothing more. You keep read-only access through your paid period. After 60 days of non-renewal, your data is permanently deleted — we send a 7-day warning email before that happens so you can export first.
Do you offer annual pricing?
Monthly-only in v1. We're not locking anyone into annual commitments on a new product. An annual plan with a discount is on the roadmap for month 6+ when we've earned that kind of trust. Monthly gives you the same cancellation flexibility we'd want if we were you.
Data & Privacy
Who owns my data?
You do. Your cost entries, your notes, your profit records — all yours. Export everything at any time in CSV or PDF. Request deletion and we'll purge your data within 7 days, with confirmation.
Do you sell my data?
Never. Not now, not ever. Your sales data is yours. It isn't aggregated and sold to brands, it isn't shared with other resellers, and it isn't used to train any model. That's in our Privacy Policy and it won't change.
Is ResaleTruth eBay-sanctioned?
Yes — we use eBay's official developer API program. We comply with eBay's deletion webhook requirements, meaning if you delete your eBay account, we automatically purge your data within 30 days per eBay's policy. We are not a scraper, not a grey-market tool.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
After cancellation your account is read-only for 60 days — you can still export everything. At day 53 we send a warning email. At day 60 your data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our servers. There is no recovery after that point.
Tax & Schedule C
Can I really use this for Schedule C?
Yes — the export maps directly to IRS Schedule C line items: gross receipts, cost of goods sold, supplies, advertising (promoted listings), car and truck expenses (mileage), and other expenses by category. Export as PDF for your records or CSV for your accountant's software.
We are not a tax preparer and this isn't tax advice. But the data will be structured exactly the way a CPA wants to see it.
What about DR-15 (Florida resale tax)?
Florida resellers: upload your resale certificate and ResaleTruth will generate a DR-15 export for your state sales tax filing. Sales subject to tax are separated from exempt resale purchases automatically.
Does it handle consignment for 1099s?
Yes. Add consignors to your account, assign items to them, and ResaleTruth tracks payout per item and automates payout calculations. At year end, generate per-consignor statements that have everything you need for 1099 reporting. The consignor's cut never shows as your profit.
Will my CPA hate me if I use this?
They'll love you. Clean exports, every expense category tagged, COGS broken out properly, mileage logged, no shoebox of receipts. We built the exports by asking resellers what their CPAs kept asking for — and building exactly that.
